Resize a photo in 4 steps

  1. Open Image Tools, choose Image Editor and press Choose an image (or drop the picture on the page). The photo opens in the editor.
  2. Choose Image > Image size… (Ctrl+Alt+I). Type the Width or the Height in pixels. With Keep proportions ticked, the other side follows, so the photo is not stretched. You can also type a Scale in percent, or use the quick buttons: 25%, 50%, 75%, 150%, 200% and the widths 3840, 1920, 1280, 1080 and 800 px. Press OK.
  3. To change the shape of the picture, choose the Crop tool. Pick Free, 1:1, 4:3, 3:2, 16:9, 9:16 or Original, drag the handles (or type W and H in pixels) and press Apply or Enter. Crop first, then set the final size.
  4. Choose File > Export as… (Ctrl+Shift+S). Pick the format, set the Quality for JPG, WebP or AVIF, and check the line with the size in pixels and the estimated file size. Then press Download.

Good to know about sizes

In Image size you can type from 1 to 12000 pixels for each side. To set an exact width and height that do not keep the original proportions, untick Keep proportions first. The picture is then stretched to the new shape, so use Crop when you only want to cut a part of it.

Making a photo smaller keeps it sharp and the file lighter. Making it larger cannot add detail that was not in the original, so the result may look softer.

Many photos at once

The Image Editor works on one picture at a time. To shrink a whole batch, open the Image Converter & Compressor, choose Compress, add up to 60 pictures and set Longest side to 3840, 2560, 1920, 1280 or 800 px. All of them are resized in one go, and you can download a .zip.

Supported formats

  • Open: JPG, PNG, WebP, PSD and other pictures your browser can read
  • Export: PNG, JPG, WebP, AVIF, GIF, BMP, ICO, TIFF, PSD, PDF
